Action Mesothelioma Day (AMD) is an annual event to raise awareness and pay tribute to everyone whose lives have been affected by the asbestos-related disease, mesothelioma.
This year, the special day took place on Friday 6 July and the SWASAG team were on hand in two separate locations to mark the occasion.
We held buffet lunches at The Jack Rabbit Inn in Plymouth and The Victoria Inn in Truro for our friends and supporters, including local people who’ve been diagnosed with mesothelioma and their loved ones.
It was a chance for everyone to meet old friends and make new ones, share experiences and offered the SWASAG team an opportunity to outline the support, practical information advice we can offer.
Specialist asbestos disease law firm, Novum Law, very kindly sponsored both events and Andrew Walker from the firm’s Plymouth office was on hand at The Jack Rabbit Inn alongside our Mesothelioma UK clinical nurse specialist, Christine Jones, to meet, greet and mingle with our guests.
Andrew said:
“Action Mesothelioma Day is an important event which helps to raise awareness of this horrible disease. It’s also an opportunity for individuals dealing with the disease on a daily basis and their families to come together to help raise awareness of mesothelioma and the deadly legacy of asbestos. The more we can do to get that message out there about the dangers of asbestos and the help and support that’s now available to those affected in the South West, the better.”
