2025 was another busy year for SWASAG.
SWASAG held the usual monthly coffee mornings in both Truro and Plymouth and in May launched a new support coffee morning in Exeter which has continued to grow through 2025. All coffee mornings will continue in 2026 and will continue on the 1st Wednesday of the month in Truro, 3rd Wednesday of the month in Plymouth and 4th Wednesday of the month in Exeter.
International ladies day was held in March 2025 once again in Manchester and hosted by Mesothelioma UK, Helen and Julie attended the event representing SWASAG alongside South West Meso UK Nurse Christine Jones. This was an amazing lunch recognising those ladies affected by mesothelioma and the courage they have in their fight.
Mesothelioma UK Muffins for Meso was held in May with SWASAG supporting this in the Plymouth & Truro coffee mornings, some lovely cakes were made and a cake raffle held at both groups raising funds for Mesothelioma UK.
June 2025 SWASAG returned to Plymouth Hoe supporting Armed Forces Day, with many visiting the stand, where SWASAG were able to raise the awareness in Asbestos related diseases. The day was fantastic with the team able to promote too many, awareness and support to those affected by asbestos.
Action Mesothelioma Day was held in July and SWASAG’s event was held at Home Park Plymouth for the 3rd year, this was attended by many who have been affected by the legacy of asbestos exposure. After a brief update from Christine Jones, Mesothelioma UK Nurse SWASAG held a quiz which was very well received with everyone participating alongside a beautiful 3 course lunch. The day finished with a butterfly release as a way of remembering those we have lost.
The Annual Christmas lunch was held at The Carlyon Bay Golf Club and attended by 68 patients, carers and families all enjoying the event. SWASAG held their AGM before the lunch and a fantastic raffle was held to finish the afternoon.
SWASAG would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all our supporters over the past year, also to our Lawyer Panel for their continued support.
