Mesothelioma UK Ladies Lunch 2020
Mesothelioma UK held its 2nd Annual Ladies lunch at The Macdonald Manchester Hotel on Friday 6th March 2020 to coincide with International Women’s Day.
Helen and Julie from SWASAG along with Chrsitine Jones, Mesothelioma UK nurse for the South West joined lots of ladies in supporting this fundraising event which is held for ladies who are suffering with Mesothelioma, a chance to come together and meet other inspirational ladies from across the country along with support groups and those helping the fight against Mesothelioma to meet over lunch. The Lunch was hosted by Lorraine Creech of Meso UK who got things underway with a short film about a play called Fibres which will soon be travelling around the country.
During the lunch several ladies spoke including Dr Stephanie Ejegi-Memeh who gave the results of the GEMS study. The GEMS study aimed to explore the experiences of men and women with mesothelioma, their family carers as well as the various staff with whom they come into contact.
A raffle and Auction was also held during the lunch with some amazing prizes on offer.
Finally, to finish a truly inspiring presentation was well received from Tracey Wood of The Glynnis Gale foundation which has been set up in her mothers memory, Tracey spoke about her mothers story in South Africa and the work the Foundation are doing to help the Mesothelioma Patients that were involved in the Asbestos mines. Tracey showed us a short film that her Foundation had put together.
